Kathrin’s Biergarten: Traditional German Restaurant Rocklin | Beer Garden & Pretzels

by | Jan 24, 2025

Since 2017, Kathrin’s Biergarten has been dishing out genuine German cuisine in Rocklin, just 5 miles from Loomis, California. From crispy schnitzels to fresh-baked pretzels, every bite delivers true Bavarian flavor.

The Food That Makes You Say “Jawohl!”

The menu reads like a greatest hits of German cuisine. Their pretzels come fresh from a local Bavarian bakery, with that perfect brown crust and soft inside that makes you want to yell, “Prost!” They serve them plain with mustard or jazzed up with jalapeños and cheese for those who like their pretzels with attitude.

The Jägerschnitzel is their top seller – a piece of pork or chicken pounded thin, breaded, and fried until golden, then covered in mushroom sauce that could make a vegetarian question their life choices. The Käse Spätzle is basically German mac and cheese, but way better – fresh egg noodles swimming in beer sauce with glazed onions on top.

Not Your Average Sausage Party

Their sausage game is strong. We’re talking DirKat (their house special), Pork Beer Bratwurst, Smoked Beef Bratwurst, and more varieties than you can shake a pretzel at. The Currywurst comes with their own spiced curry ketchup sauce that they’ll serve hot or cold – your call.

Getting There

From Loomis, it’s a straight shot down Taylor Road/Pacific Street into Rocklin. The restaurant sits in a shopping center on Granite Drive, making it easy to find and park. Call them at (916) 251-7502 if you get lost or want to check if they’ve got space.

The prices won’t make your wallet cry – most main dishes run between $12 and $25, with some sharing plates going higher. The portion sizes are generous enough that you might need to unbutton your lederhosen after dinner.
